Wat Pho (Reclining Buddha)

Wat Pho is Bangkok's oldest and largest temple, housing the famous Reclining Buddha — a massive 46-metre long, 15-metre high golden statue depicting the Buddha entering Nirvana. The soles of the feet are inlaid with 108 auspicious mother-of-pearl symbols. The temple complex itself is a treasure trove of Thai art, with over 1,000 Buddha images, four large chedis (stupas) decorated in colorful tiles, and beautiful garden courtyards. Wat Pho is also recognized as Thailand's first public university and the birthplace of traditional Thai massage.
