Wat Phra Ram

Wat Phra Ram is one of the oldest temples in Ayutthaya, built in 1369 by King Ramesuan on the cremation site of his father, the founder of the Ayutthaya Kingdom. The temple's central Khmer-style prang tower is well-preserved and surrounded by a decorative pond that creates a spectacular mirror reflection — especially beautiful at dawn and dusk when lotus blossoms open on the still water. The surrounding gallery walls feature naga (serpent) and garuda relief decorations that are among the best preserved decorative elements in the historical park. The temple sits directly opposite the Ayutthaya Historical Study Centre and near Wat Mahathat, making it easy to include in any walking tour of the central ruins cluster.
