About Sanctuary of Truth
A breathtaking 105-metre all-wood temple masterpiece rising from the sea, adorned with thousands of intricate hand-carved sculptures depicting Hindu and Buddhist mythology.
The Sanctuary of Truth is one of the most awe-inspiring structures in all of Southeast Asia. This colossal wooden temple stands 105 metres tall and has been under construction since 1981, carved entirely from teakwood without a single nail. Every surface is covered in exquisite hand-carved sculptures depicting mythological scenes from Hinduism and Buddhism. The structure represents a philosophical monument to the ancient Khmer art and the religion-based lifestyle of the Thai people. Visitors can explore the four towers dedicated to Brahma, Vishnu, Shiva and Buddha, and watch traditional cultural shows including Thai classical dance, Thai boxing, and elephant riding demonstrations. The complex also has horseback riding and dolphin shows.
