About Khao Takiab (Monkey Hill Temple)
A forested hilltop temple crawling with playful macaque monkeys, offering sweeping panoramic views over Hua Hin's coastline — a quirky and charming half-day adventure.
Khao Takiab, known locally as Chopstick Hill, is a forested headland just south of Hua Hin beach topped with a Buddhist temple and home to hundreds of wild macaque monkeys. The hill is sacred, featuring several shrines, a large standing Buddha, and a colourful Chinese temple at the summit. The journey to the top — either by steep steps or via the road — involves navigating the resident monkey population who are bold and entertaining but should be approached with caution. The reward at the top is spectacular: sweeping panoramic views stretching north over Hua Hin's full beach sweep, the town, and south along a quieter stretch of coastline.
