Khao Chi Chan (Buddha Mountain)

Khao Chi Chan, commonly known as Buddha Mountain, is one of the most unique and awe-inspiring landmarks near Pattaya. The image of a seated Buddha was created by laser-carving into the natural limestone cliff face of a 130-metre high mountain, then filled with pure gold. The artwork was created in 1996 as a tribute to King Bhumibol Adulyadej on his golden jubilee. The golden Buddha image measures an incredible 130 metres tall and 70 metres wide, making it one of the largest Buddha images in the world. The surrounding area features beautifully maintained gardens with lotus ponds, orchid gardens, and shaded walking paths. This makes for a peaceful and photogenic half-day visit that combines natural scenery with spiritual significance.
