Bang Pa-In Royal Palace

The Bang Pa-In Royal Palace, also known as the Summer Palace, is one of Thailand's most beautiful and architecturally diverse royal residences. Located 20km south of Ayutthaya on a river island, the palace complex was originally established in the 17th century and extensively developed by King Rama V (Chulalongkorn) in the 19th century. The result is an extraordinary collection of buildings in completely different styles — a Thai pavilion sitting perfectly on a lake, a Chinese-style mansion, a Gothic-inspired tower, a Renaissance-style throne hall, and elaborate European garden pavilions — all arranged across manicured gardens and waterways. The contrast between classical Thai architecture and Victorian European influences creates a uniquely fascinating and photogenic royal heritage site.
