Big Buddha Hill (Wat Phra Yai)

Wat Phra Yai, known as the Big Buddha Temple, is one of Pattaya's most revered and visited landmarks. Situated atop Pratumnak Hill, this 18-metre tall golden Buddha statue (Phra Phuttha Khao Thapao) stands majestically overlooking the Gulf of Thailand and Pattaya city. The site is an active temple and a place of great spiritual significance for Thai Buddhists. Visitors can climb the stairs to the top while passing numerous ornamental structures, smaller Buddha images, and intricately decorated buildings. The panoramic views from the top are spectacular — you can see the entire Pattaya bay, Jomtien Beach, and on clear days, the islands in the distance. Dress modestly (shoulders and knees covered) as it is an active place of worship. Entry is free.
